You could spend the last weekend before Christmas running all over Manhattan, hunting for the perfect gift, infecting yourself with decidophobia. Or you could let T do all the hard work. Here are three promising sources for those in need of last-minute gifts that combine value, intrigue and art.
The first stop, tucked away among the galleries in Chelsea, is the Poster Shop. It’s situated atop the rehabbed 19th-century fire station that houses the Matthew Marks Gallery. Inside the loftlike space, there’s an eclectic range of original posters, books and artworks. You can pick up an Inez van Lamsweerde original gallery show poster for a measly $30 — or, even better, a poster from a 2007 Nan Goldin show for $20. Posters or prints that are signed by the artist, like this one by Robert Adams, will set you back around $200.
