Only 5% of those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer can expect to survive five years, and 36,800 Americans will die of the disease this year, according to the National Cancer Institute. Among celebrities, Patrick Swayze recently succumbed to it, though Steve Jobs and Ruth Bader Ginsburg have both successfully beaten the illness.
